Perfume ads have definitely become unimaginative

Hi all...
As we have begun the next module which is based on fragrance, we've began looking into different perfume ads and analysing what we liked and disliked. Honestly, I found many all a bit cliché and this made me wonder why there is a lack of meaning & imagination through perfume advertisement. They're all terrible and they're all the same!
There's always a very good looking person or sometimes a celebrity that's in a stylish outfit who wins over a lover with their lavish scent. You're suppose to be sucked into all the luxury until it reveals that you're actually watching an advert for some sort of perfume that you possibly wouldn't even buy. I haven't seen a brand that is trying something new and exciting so whenever I think of adverts to do with perfume, I instantly think about this overused storyline. It's absolutely pointless. It makes me wonder if the smell of the perfume has anything to do with the storyline what so ever. Or are they just relying on the reputation & how big the brand is already so they leave this on the back seat. I think they are suppose to be 'artistic' but fail to do so. One day I would like a perfume ad to actually tell me what the thing smells like instead of a short witty film.
Funnily enough I didn't really think about perfume ads as much as I do now but if you look closely, you definitely notice a continuing pattern that brands are poorly attempting to lure you into.
When you hear the words "J'adore Dior" I bet you can hear the woman's voice in your head. This is one advert in particular that sticks to me when I think about perfume ads. Charlize Theron struts around in a gold dress & of course she has to be utterly gorgeous but what else is new?

Almost every brand has the same strategies but I don't see those brands making a difference anytime soon. Like I said above, Is this because brands rely so much on their name? Especially if they are already a big seller. Perhaps they don't care about the final outcome of their new ad as they know instantly people would buy anything that has a particular brand name written all over it.
Here are some examples of perfume advertisements, see if you can find the cliché in each one.
