Looking back so far

Hi all...

I'm slowly making my way through this blog post due to the fact I'm currently making a mental note in my head of how quickly the first year of University has gone so far. If you're in my position it's terrifying right?

I've been putting this off for a while now. Probably because I haven't exactly had the proper 'University experience' like the majority of others would have. Hence why this post isn't entitled 'My University experience' just like the others.

As I still live at home I currently travel to Nottingham at least three times a week. The rest of my days I have free time to update you on my blog or sketchbook or I'm either working at my job. Besides this the way I see it, I can honestly say I have gained a lot of independence and self motivation to wake up each morning and stick to the whole routine of lectures and seminars (getting up at 6am on a Monday morning is the worst part of it all).

The whole University environment is a lot different to college. I'd guess you would expect it to be class after class but it's definitely a lot more free.

I feel like each week is something new. There's always something new to explore and research yourself. Seminar's are the best way to get stuck in and besides, the tutors are actually fab themselves from telling us their own experiences from the Industry and practically have knowledge about anything you'd expect and further from a fashion course. They definitely challenge us in the best way possible.

Each week it gets easier to achieve a brief. The hard part is getting started or perhaps the thought of "How am I meant to do that in time" speaks in my mind. Especially when you think it's crazy completing an updated blog every week and keeping track with a sketchbook. I often a time out, organise your time wisely and don't rush.

It wasn't as bad as I first imagined. Once everything is done it is one huge relief.

Our next module is all about fragrance. Something different from the fashion industry but I'm keen to get my hands stuck in as it's something I'm really excited about.

As first term has finished and gone by so quickly, who knows how long this term will go. At least after everything, I'd be happy because of how much I've learnt and been able to discover. There's only been one term and I think about this already considering I am somebody who hasn't come from a 'fashion' related background, I'm impressed with how much I've achieved and discovered during the last few months.

With Love

A x
