Instead of saying Merry Christmas, I'll say Happy New Year!

Is it bad luck to be writing a blog post now about Christmas?

Yes, before you say anything I know I am rather a little late into the New Year (considering it is almost February!) and also with this particular post. Even thinking about this already gives me the Christmas blues and I'm fairly sure it will put you in the same boat.

So, over the festive period I travelled up to Edinburgh for a few days. Considering I wasn't going with my course to New York I thought it would be good to experience a trip out of my comfort zone and to a place I have never been to. I had the privileged to stay with a good friend of mine who just so happens to be studying in Edinburgh which happily meant I had a few extra pennies for a spontaneous shopping spree!

The fact that it was during the most wonderful time of the year is a complete bonus and it most definitely was exciting to be a tourist. One spectacular place I did take a look at was Edinburgh's finest Christmas Market located at East Princes Street Gardens.

Christmas in Edinburgh definitely gets my vote for being the best tourist attraction for the magical time of the year. The Christmas Market is a stunning, six-week season of high quality, festive entertainment. During my visit to I had the experience to explore the Christmas Markets in the heart of the city centre and encounter the winter celebrations. Of course lets face it, I couldn't leave here without buying a festive ornament to hang up on the tree.

Edinburgh was certainly transformed into a winter wonderland. From handmade Christmas decorations to cashmere scarves surrounded by the heart of entertainment.

Being a tourist was slightly odd at first as you really don't know you're way around. It's just the case of getting with the grips of map understand and a good sense of direction! Plus, exploring in a group is quite handy!

Yes, I know this is a very festive blog post but I couldn't handle the excitement when Christmas was approaching. Especially throughout a city that loves and exaggerates all of the festiveness.

Edinburgh is definitely a place I would come back to no matter what season it may be. Hopefully there will be another chance to explore popular, main attractions and of course fully complete a worth winning shopping spree.
