The functional shape, clunky soles and the distinctive yellow stitching have left a risky footprint on fashion taste and sound. A definite appeal for the fearless attitude and for those people who encountered self expression. Yes, you know what I'm on about as just about anyone loves a pair of docs. The Dr Martens boot are the most iconic and famous shoes in the world.

First of all, the idea was established in 1945, Dr Klaus Maertens, while recovering from a broken foot, created an unusual air cushioned sole for his recovery. Rather than the traditional hard leather sole.
Later on Maertens created a prototype shoe and began a splendid partnership with Dr Herbert Funk. The idea was produced from military supplies at first, mostly selling to older women.
It was only by the time the 1960's fast emerged, it was time for a true icon and the Dr Martens boot was re-born. A completely new identity emerged from the streets. Initially worn as a work-wear boot, the brand suddenly picked up through an unpredictable wave of change.

Pete Townshend, frontman of The Who created the working boot into a subcultural stand and rebellious attitude which became the kicking attention for fashion.
So it was decided, the alternative footwear choice for the youth culture was thankfully a pair of docs.
Dr Martens embraced it's values in a long running appeal for teenagers, punks, grunge and skin heads. The 1970's was simply a cluster of glam and subcultures.
Their overall brand image appeals to people who possess a sense of their own individual style and empowerment. Although if we look onto today's fashion choices, you can clearly see that the latest trends in the high streets means that the iconic shoe doesn't need to be as radical as this was previously through the 60's and 70's.
At least their ability for comfort still makes them the most famous and ideal shoe for street wear and of course, lets not forget music gigs.
Since then, Dr Martens have introduced new styles like the bright pink boot and floral foliage. So it is understanding that the famous branded shoe has adapted to the relevant choices of today's fashion trends.
