"It's a vision of a revived Parisian woman, it is all about cut, shapes, silhouettes." - Karl Lagerfield
"Vive la France!"
This summer in Paris, Karl Lagerfield finely presented his fall 2017/18 Haute Couture collection for Chanel. It was this moment Lagerfield chose this particular show to install a replica of France's most famous, most romantic and one of the world's most recognisable features. Lagerfield expressed his love for the fashion capital while his models were standing stunning and elevated. Each garment reflected that power of luxury while walking the runway located in the fashion capital of the world.

The Eiffel Tower was Lagerfield's inspiration. Completed in 1989 this was fast becoming Paris' most controversial and recognisable landmark. While today it is the one of the most recognisable landmarks in the world and loveable tourist attraction. The structure, shaped and it's flared silhouette inspired the 2017/18 fall collection. As you can see by the collection of shapely dresses and coats. The association with the Eiffel tower was made clear. Especially due to the replica of this landmark created inside the Grand Palais. Chanel built a scale model of the Eiffel tower for the show as models can strut around in their parisian glamour. The perfection of structure.

Meanwhile in the shadow of the Eiffel tower, there was a Parisian garden display created within the Grand Palais to host the Haute Couture Fall/Winter Collection 2017/18. Models can strut in their finery through the Parisian Garden. Set against the backdrop of Paris' iconic landmark, the first model made an appearance. Wearing a structured boucle coat and grey hoater hat.
Slate - Coloured, structured silhouettes and matching hats. These are a big trend for couture.
The whole show exaggerated on the shapes and silhouettes as there were plenty to feast your eyes onto. Lagerfield unified plenty of options through mostly a serious dark palette and thick tweeds. Though not all tweeds were on the heavy side. The predictable colour palette we expect from Chanel in black, navy and grey fitted well together with patent ankle boots and heels. Lagerfield chose women with intense stares and faces covered with draped hats. Buttoned up boots fitted beautifully and ear lobes were decorated with micro pearls. Even the iconic little black dress number was uplifted with pearls that are transformed into long, thin scarves falling between the pleats of black taffeta.

Lagerfield's spectacular creations emerged into more colourful creations enriched with feathers, floral rosettes and dashing detail as the elegant jackets and skirts morphed into pleated flocks, luscious evening gowns and of course, the extravagant bridal dress for the lavish & outstanding finale.

Beautifully designed bridal dress emerged into the grand finale of Chanel Fall 2017/18 Haute Couture collection.
